The family tree requires you to find out some information about your biological relatives (that means blood relatives, so no step-family). Find the slip of paper with the title Filters that you were handed in the lesson (uploaded below if you need another). 2. Read the instructions carefully. 3. Homework set Wednesday 11th December. Due in Tuesday 7th January (first day back). Instructions: 1. The next topic we will be learning about is Light. 2. You need to research rainbows and hand in the following: a) A diagram of the rainbow with the 7 key colours in order. b) At least 2 examples of where rainbows can be found. c) An explanation of how rainbows are formed. Work can be hand written or typed up but must not be copied straight from the internet. Make sure you take information that is relevant and put it into your own words. This is a three week homework so I expect high quality pieces of work from ALL of you. Any problems, see Miss Dawe before the holidays. 8B2:

Homework is not in test conditions: find out the answers you don't know! This homework will require you to be reflective on your term so far (how will you improve from last assessment?) and resourceful in finding out answers. Homework set Wednesday 13th November. Due in Monday 18th November. Instructions: 1. Open the document below and read both slides carefully. Take note of the key words. 2. Complete the task on the second slide. 3. Your work must be layed out in the style of a letter (address, date, Dear..., etc.). 4. Your work must be completed in your homework book. Homework set Wednesday 23rd October. Due in Monday 11th November. Instructions: 1. Open the documents below. 2. Read through them carefully, making a note of the key words in particular. 3. Complete your own A4 poster explaining why magnesium gets heavier when it reacts with oxygen, using the bullet points for each level to get as high a level as possible. 4. Start at L3 and work up as far as you can go. If you have any questions or problems then you need to see Miss Dawe before the due date. The first document is just instructions.
The second document you will need to follow when completing your poster - tick it off! The third document is extra information for the higher levels.

Homework set Wednesday 9th October. Due in Monday 21st October. Instructions: Now that you know and understand the structure of the atom, you are going to make one! You can use any materials you like: so be CREATIVE (think papier mache, cardboard, coathangers, cake...). 1. Your atom needs to show the 3 main subatomic particles. 2. A good model will be an accurate representation of the real thing. 3. This is a two week homework so I expect twice as much effort as normal. 4. Bring your finished model to your lesson on Monday 21st October. This task will encourage you to be resourceful, resilient and reflective as you adjust your model to be as accurate as possible. Homework set Wednesday 2nd October. Due Monday 7th October. Instructions: 1. Research the 'structure of the atom'. 2. Draw a diagram of an atom. 3. Your diagram needs to have labelled: a) The correct location of electrons, protons and neutrons. b) The nucleus and shells. c) The correct charges on each of the subatomic particles. Remember, draw with pencil, label in pen. You may use colours if you think it is appropriate.
